The 5th edition of Player to Player
On September 26, for the 5th edition of Player to Player, Martin Julien as moderator will once again direct a roundtable discussion on the art of ‘playing’, this time focusing on the iconic King Lear from Shakespeare’s self-titled play, and featuring Canadian actors David Fox, Susanna Hamnett, and William Webster as they share their very unique experiences surrounding the creation of this character, and the many ways such a character can be manifested on the stage.
Susanna will be a very integral piece of this discussion as one of the only female actors to have played the role of Lear in recent years, and as the only female to play the character in a one woman show. David Fox, provides the audience with a recent take on the character, having played the role of Lear in November 2015 at Theatre Passe Muraille at the age of 74, bringing countless years of experience to the development of the character. And William Webster brings some historical experience from an older version of the play, having been in the role in 2006 for a production at Toronto’s own Soulpepper Theatre, of which he is a founding member.
3 actors, 3 experts, one night for an engaging discussion. You won’t want to miss out on this amazing opportunity to hear from these icons, whether you are a students, faculty, or general theatre enthusiasts.
