TAPA announces

THE INDIE EXCHANGE

The Indie Trade Forum is back - Cultivating Creative Connections!

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) in association with the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) and Buddies in Bad Times is thrilled to announce the upcoming Indie Exchange to be held on February 28, 2016 at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (12 Alexander St, Toronto, ON M4Y 1B4).

The Indie Exchange is targeted to the professional performing arts Indie community and is a vital networking and learning conference for Toronto’s emerging and established artists, arts managers, producers and companies. Philip Akin, Artistic Director of Obsidian Theatre, kicks off the day as the keynote speaker. The Indie Exchange will be hosting a slew of interactive panel discussions led by leading professionals. Learn creative and cheap marketing tactics from Toronto’s top advertising and marketing gurus, discover the benefits of associating with major organizations and ways in which to create those connections, or participate in one of our four ‘In discussion with …’ groups. The Indie Exchange aims to provide every artist with the tools they need to produce their art in today’s competitive theatre, dance and opera environment.

The Indie Exchange also features The Indie Agora: a Connections Forum, which offers participants a chance to chat with representatives from various cultural and government organizations along with independent business owners and services.

Put your schmoozing hat on and participate in the Indie Exchange game: Indie Pursuit. The game will test your performing arts knowledge and will motivate you to meet key figures in the Arts Community. The most ambitious players win bragging rights plus great prizes and our grand prize: an amazing marketing package.

Come learn, network, and be inspired at the 2016 Indie Exchange!

TAPA and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (BIBT) share a long history of supporting the Indie theatre community. Over two decades ago, The Indie Trade Forum was conceived as a two day co

nference focusing on challenges and issues specific to Indie theatre producers. Over the years, the Indie Trade Forum morphed into the TAPA Trade Series which provides ongoing professional development to the full spectrum of TAPA members all year-long. Recognizing the shifting demographics and needs of the

c

urrent Indie environment, TAPA is proud to partner, once again, with BIBT 20 years later to launch the re-conceived version of the Indie Theatre Trade Forum as the Indie Exchange.
