On August 25, 26, 27, and 28, Why Not Theatre is hosting a group of artists from Canada, USA, UK, Rwanda, Nigeria and Turkey in Toronto for an event called ThisGen: a gathering of dynamic artistic learers from around the world, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts.
ThisGen is a gathering of local, national and international artists who are all making significant impacts within their communities, through the arts. They are current artistic leaders working in a range of roles, in companies that range from grassroots organizations to institutions - and everything in between.
As part of the gathering we will be hosting two Long Table conversations with artists from the Toronto-theatre community on Aug 26 (hosted by Soulpepper Theatre) and Aug 27 (hosted by Canadian Stage). Long Table is a conversation format developed by UK artist Lois Weaver. It's a provocative, experimental, and non-hierarchical format for public dialogue - anyone is welcome to the table to make statements, leave comments, ask questions, or simply to listen.
Our goal is to include the entire community in a conversation with the artist participants of the conference. For more info about the participants and the open sessions, visit thisgen.org
