Our internship program provides an opportunity for emerging artists to expand their skills and experience through observing and participating in the creation of an original professional theatre production.
Theatre Gargantua is seeking TWO interns who are serious and committed to pursuing a career in the performing arts. Participants will attend all rehearsal and creative meetings for our new work while simultaneously assisting in areas of production (e.g. set, lighting, costumes, stage management, and director assistance). Through this program, artists will develop new skills that will be useful in future artistic endeavours.
The program will begin in May, for approximately two weeks, and will then continue in the fall leading up to presentation at Theatre Passe Muraille. This position is full time during rehearsals and production (approximately 2 weeks in May and 8 weeks in the fall) with some commitments in between.
Successful applicants will have a background in theatre and an interest in multi-disciplinary work and/or the collaborative creation process. Applicants should be prepared to make a commitment to the full length of the project, including attendance at all rehearsals and performances and for all creative meetings. This is a paid opportunity.
Please send a resume and cover letter detailing your interest in the program and the company as it relates to your future career aspirations.
Please send application to firstname.lastname@example.org citing “Artistic Internship” in the subject line (no phone calls please.)
Applications are due May 3 by 5pm. Interviews will be held later that same week. The positions begin on May 11.
Theatre Gargantua is an equal opportunity employer who encourages applications from candidates with disabilities, Aboriginal candidates, and candidates who are members of a visible minority.
