Manager of Communications - As a new role in this exciting start-up organization, the Manager of Communications will report to the CEO and work collaboratively with Staff, Board, consultants and with the project’s key partners.

The Manager of Communications will use their expertise in communications strategy, digital communications, media relations and PR, project management and marketing to help make The Bentway a unique space in Toronto – a place that “turns the ordinary into the extraordinary.”

RESPONSIBILITIES

General
• Provide communications, marketing and digital media advice to The Bentway and staff, in support of the overall vision and objectives of the conservancy;
• Lead the development of general communication strategy and supporting materials;
• Act as the Conservancy lead for ensuring quality, accuracy and consistency of all external communications;
• Advise and build the capacity of senior staff and the Board to effectively use the online, social media and other tools available for communications, as well as media training; develop communications guidelines and processes, including style guides, corporate memos, etc.
• Mailing list management; Work closely with the Director of Programming to understand and advance the aesthetic of the Bentway experience

Digital Communications
• Provide strategic vision, planning, and project management for all digital communications, including website, email, social media and others;

Media Relations and PR
• Advise the Board and Staff on strategic approaches to media relations and PR and develop strategy and systems as required

Marketing and Publication Development
• Work with staff in to create organizational collateral (ex. postcards, brochures, programmes, etc) for events, fundraising campaigns, donor packages, etc.;
• Manage the creation of key publications, including annual reports, programming publications, and more
• Support the public profile of the organization by ensuring that Bentway staff attend conferences and events and are actively involved in the community;
• Manage the creation and execution of a community stewardship and engagement plan;
• Engage community stakeholders , neighbours and other key audiences – including local BIAs, residents associations and community organizations
