Employment Opportunity: Assistant Director

Driftwood Theatre Group, Ontario’s outdoor summer-touring theatre company, is searching for an Assistant Director to work with director D. Jeremy Smith on THE TAMING OF THE SHREW and with the company's Creative Roots program from June 06 - July 10, 2016.

This opportunity is suitable for young directors either early in their careers or still in study (preferably in post-secondary theatre direction training).

The Assistant Director will: audit and contribute daily in rehearsals for The Taming of the Shrew; assist with Driftwood's Creative Roots Theatre Training Intensive, leading classes and workshops and helping program participants, ages 14-19, prepare for the presentation of their work on July 10.

In addition to mentorship opportunities with Artistic Director D. Jeremy Smith and access to Driftwood artists, outreach and educational components of the position will include tickets to Toronto theatre productions and invitations to special events.

Employment Opportunity: Wardrobe Assistant

The Driftwood Theatre Group, Ontario’s outdoor summer-touring theatre company, is searching for a Wardrobe Assistant for their upcoming Bard’s Bus Tour. Contract runs from May 30th to July 17th, 2016.

Reporting to the Costume Designer and under supervision of the Production Manager, responsibilities include: interpreting design drawing, purchasing materials, drafting patterns & working drawings, wardrobe assembly and alteration, fittings, repairs and maintenance.

The successful candidate will have a variety of technical theatre experience (especially technical drawing & drafting, wardrobe cutting) possess a professional, hardworking, outgoing and personable disposition; with excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a passion for the theatre.

Employment Opportunity: Front of House Assistant

The Driftwood Theatre Group, Ontario’s outdoor summer-touring theatre company, is searching for a Front of House Assistant for their upcoming Bard’s Bus Tour. Contract runs from June 27th to August 14th, 2016.

Reporting to the Front of House Manager, responsibilities include: preparation and management of the theatre’s front of house and concession areas during an outdoor, summer theatre tour; welcome and seat reserved guests; daily preparation and set up of concession stand and reserved seating; serve guests at concession stand, supervise Front of House volunteers, assist in carrying out all on site Shakespearience events.

The successful candidate will have a variety of customer service experience, possess a professional, hardworking, outgoing and personable disposition; with excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a passion for the theatre.
