Call to Emerging Choreographers
Toronto Dance Theatre invites applications from emerging choreographers to join a two-week choreographic residency and workshop, the Emerging Voices Project. The residency will be held in Toronto from December 7-18, 2015 at TDT’s facilities at 80 Winchester Street, 10am-6pm, Monday-Friday.
Nine choreographers will be invited to work with ten TDT dancers and mentor/facilitators Ame Henderson and Christopher House in this intensive project. Over the two weeks, each choreographer will spend a minimum of thirteen hours working in the studio on new choreography with 3-4 dancers. Alongside this personal investigation, choreographers will participate in morning practice sharing, group discussions, afternoon showings, informal conversations with colleagues and one-on-one sessions with the mentors.
At the end of the project, interested participants will be encouraged to make a proposal for continuing their work in a second stage of Emerging Voices to be held in TDT’s 2016-17 season.
Choreographers will receive an honorarium for their participation.
