Shakespeare in Action’s Administrative Community Program has given dozens of volunteers meaningful opportunities to develop professional skills, network with professional theatre artists and be part of a dynamic creative team committed to awakening a passion in young audiences for Shakespeare, classical theatre, and the arts.
Professional experience is available in many aspects of educational programming, event planning, and arts administration.
Volunteers will gain experience and job skills in:
-Fundraising and event planning
-Marketing in a non-profit context
-Customer service and sales
-Education and Community Outreach programming
-Videography and documentation and multi-media design
-Development of educational materials
-Social media development, design and delivery
The Administrative Community Program is designed to be learning-based, and professional administrators and artists including directors, designers and production personnel will mentor volunteers closely. This is an ideal environment for those looking to gain more experience working in arts administration and the charitable sector, or those looking to apply their talents and skills to a great cause.
Successful applicants must be able to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week. There is flexibility around days & time worked.
Successful applicants will either be enrolled in or have completed a university or college degree in a pertinent field, including Arts in Education, Business, Marketing, Theatre Production, or similar areas.
Most importantly, successful applicants will have a passion for Shakespeare, classical theatre, education and theatre for young audiences. Applicants will have a desire to learn more about creating theatre in a professional context and be a good team player.
