Webinar Wednesdays: Toward Decent Work for the Nonprofit Sector
Date: Wednesday, May 4th 2016
Time: 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Presenters: Cathy Taylor (ONN), Lisa Lalande (Mowat NFP), Rob Howarth (Toronto Neighbourhood Centres),
For those of us who work in the nonprofit sector, we are fueled by our passion to tackle some of our communities’ greatest issues. Yet, how often do we resolve the conditions that put us, as workers, in vulnerable situations?
Our sector is now engaging in pressing conversations around issues such as fair income, health and retirement benefits, stable employment, opportunities for development and advancement, equality rights, and more. All of us play a key role in positioning the nonprofit sector as decent work leaders and making the nonprofit sector a compelling choice for prospective and current employees.
This webinar delves into ChangeWork: A Decent Work Movement For The Nonprofit Sector, an 18-month project between the Ontario Nonprofit Network, Mowat NFP, and Toronto Neighbourhood Centres to promote decent work for the nonprofit sector.
In this webinar, you will learn:
- The definition of decent work and how it can provide a framework for our sector
- The barriers to decent work and the possible solutions
- The initiatives that are in progress that will move us toward decent work
- How you can get involved with the decent work movement
Our people are our most valuable resource. Let’s continue to nurture and sustain the passion, motivation and creativity of the people who support and transform our communities, every day. Register now.

About the presenting organizations:
Cathy, Lisa, and Rob have been working together on ChangeWork: A Decent Work Movement For The Nonprofit Sector. ChangeWork is a collaborative project being carried out by ONN, Toronto Neighbourhood Centres (TNC), and Mowat NFP, with the support of the Atkinson Foundation’s Decent Work fund. Its goal is to generate a broad discussion about how our sector can promote decent work practices in our workplaces, our communities, our sector, and our society.
