HST Update
As reported in the TAPA May Communiqué, TAPA has joined a group of other membership driven organizations to better understand the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and to tackle the practicalities of this situation head-on. The focus in the next few months will be on impact analysis, advocacy, and implementation/transition materials.
As part of the current HST Committee, TAPA will be sending regular updates and information about the HST to the membership as new information arises. This is the first of these bulletins.
The HST Committee consists of the following organizations:
- TAPA
- Canadian Dance Assembly
- CAPACOA
- Dance Ontario
- CCI Ontario Presenting Network
- Ontario Association of Art Galleries
- Opera.ca
- Orchestras Canada
- Professional Association of Canadian Theatres
- Theatre Ontario
Using a mix of different organizations and how they currently file their GST, the HST Committee is working on your behalf to analyze the effect the harmonized tax could have on the sector. A template is being developed which can be used to help members assess the impact on their own organization.
