The Cabin, a new maker space
The Assembly, a Toronto-based improv comedy collective, has recently opened The Cabin, a new maker space where they can now host classes, rehearsals and workshops.
The Cabin is located at Bloor and Ossington, and is approximately 900 square feet. With help from the Stopgap Foundation, The Assembly was able to achieve their dream and create a space that is wheelchair accessible, durable enough for all kinds of improv, and located in the heart of the comedy corridor with Bad Dog Comedy Theatre and Comedy Bar just around the corner.
The Assembly started in the basement of a Shoppers Drug Mart. Now they a longform improv collective made up of a dozen teams. The Assembly provides opportunities for developing talent in monthly showcases. They mentor new talent, facilitate a coalition of the most dedicated longform teams in the city, and coordinate workshops featuring Toronto’s favourite longform instructors.
