Audition for Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre!
February 23 (ages 8-13)
March 1(ages 14-19)

This is a wonderful opportunity for young dancers ages 8-19 to experience a company audition and, for those selected, to broaden their dance experience as part of a professional touring ensemble and/or an intensive training program.

Auditioning Dancers will be considered for:

  • Full Company Membership
  • Company Apprenticeship
  • The Core Apprentice Program
  • The Young Apprentice Program
  • SunDance summer dance intensive
  • ignite! contemporary dance intensive

CCDT is a Toronto-based contemporary dance company founded in 1980 to present gifted next-generation artists in performance. The company enjoys a repertoire created by more than fifty choreographers including Mississauga-born Jennifer Archibald (Arch Dance Company, NYC), Colin Connor (Limón Company, NYC), Apolonia Velasquez (Gadfly), Jera Wolfe (Red Sky Performance), and Hanna Kiel (Human Body Expression). Company dancers have gone on to dance with some of the world’s leading training centres including The Juilliard School, SUNY Purchase, Ryerson Dance, and London Contemporary Dance School, and some seventy-five companies including the Limón Dance Company, BJM, Mark Morris Dance Group, Wayne McGregor/Random Dance, Toronto Dance Theatre, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, and RUBBERBAND.

SunDance is the only summer intensive in the world to combine RAD Ballet and Limón Modern. This three-week auditioned program for ages 8-19 offers unparalleled training from internationally renowned faculty at one of Canada's premier dance facilities. SunDance is presented in association with the Royal Academy of Dance.

ignite! is an auditioned, one-week summer dance program about the creative process for emerging contemporary dance artists ages 15 and up - exploring different methods and approaches for dance-making. Through a series of classes, research labs and collaborative rehearsal experiences, the program aims to help artists understand a new scope of their own creative possibilities.
