Circle Circle Theatre is looking for a male actor for their upcoming production of A Man Walks Into a Bar at the Toronto Fringe.
A Man Walks Into a Bar is a metatheatrical two hander, a joke about a waitress and a customer that goes awry.
We’re looking for an actor to play ‘The Man’, age range 28-35, charming sense of humour and physically athletic. He’ll play both an actor addressing the audience and a male customer at a bar.
Several workshop rehearsals will take place throughout May, with the majority of rehearsals happening in June.
Compensation will be box office share.
A Man Walks Into a Bar is written by Rachel Blair. Rachel’s past Fringe writing credits include Wake (2008 Fringe New Play Contest Winner, Best of Fringe, Patron’s Pick) and as a collective member of Red Queen Effect (2010 Next Stage Theatre Festival). Her play The Comfort Women was shortlisted for Tarragon Theatre’s RBC Emerging Playwright Award and selected to be workshopped at the Banff Playwright’s Colony. She was recently a member of Tarragon Theatre’s Playwright’s Unit. Directed by David Matheson, Artistic Director of Dora nominated Wordsmyth Theatre and Professor of Acting at Sheridan/UTM. David’s past Fringe shows include Bluebeard (2008 Patron’s Pick) and [sic] (2010 Best of Fringe).
