Glass Reflections Theatre Collective is seeking the following actors for a workshop rehearsal of its play in development The Grave Play (working title).
SYNOPSIS: In the dystopian future where this play is set, people don’t really die, or at least people don’t have time to grieve them. The play opens with Tom visiting his mother’s grave and telling her he misses her. Upon this, the monitor built into her tombstone lights up and a Skype-type video chat happens between his mother and Tom. She berates him for not visiting enough, not doing well at his job and not yet to finding a nice woman. As Tom later discovers, out of work actors are cast to play the roles of the deceased as a form of therapy, and a young woman named Celeste has been playing the part of his mother. But when a secret is revealed, both the living and dead are put in danger.
Tom (lead): male, 40’s, any ethnicity.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please send a CV and Audio or Video Reel to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “The Grave Play Audition” by Jan 25th. A headshot is optional.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Must be available Feb 1st from 7-9pm in Toronto to be considered. This is a non-union workshop.
