Theatre Mischief is casting for Cam Baby (Fringe New Play Contest winner) by Jessica Moss, directed by Charlotte Gowdy.
Cam Baby is a fast-paced comedy about privacy, identity, and the value of women. It is currently being developed at the Juilliard School with the support of Marsha Norman and Christopher Durang, and as part of the Roundabout Underground Reading Series in New York.
The production is part of Toronto Fringe: performances between June 29, and July 10, 2016. Rehearsals begin in May (part-time), with a more intense rehearsal period in June. All artists (Equity/Non-Equity) operate under festival policy, receiving a share of profits.
Auditions are March 2-4, 2016 with callbacks on March 6. Submissions due by February 20th.
CLARA (F): late 20’s-early 30’s. Uses the word ‘ugly’ to describe herself. If you are an actress who does not fit the ingénue role or the traditional beauty mould, this role is for you.
NATALIE (F): late 20’s-early 30’s. Stands in contrast to Clara: men regularly tell her she is beautiful.
MATABANG (M): late 20’s-early 30’s. Smooth talker, schemer, ‘business man’.
TIM (M): late 20’s-early 30’s. Tim used to play the tuba in high school (actor does not need to play the tuba). Sweet. Lovable.
JOSEPH (M): late 20’s- early 30’s. Unemployed. In love with Natalie. Trying to get his life in order and unsure how to do it.
EZRA (M): Age flexible, 30s-50s. Loner. Pure-of-heart oddball. Watching a LOT of internet porn.
For all parts, we are looking for facility with fast dialogue, and comedy chops.
We are actively seeking diversity: cultural, ethnic, body, etc. Please submit widely.
Please send headshot, resume, and letter expressing your interest in the play and which role you would like to be considered for to JESSICA MOSS at email@example.com.
