Canadian Youth Theatre/Théâtre Jeunesse Canadien
Canadian Rep Theatre is currently casting for this pilot project, which includes productions of DREAMS (RÊVES) by Wajdi Mouawad and a multi-racial 12-performer ensemble adaption of TOUGH! by George F. Walker. Both productions are directed by Ken Gass and will perform in repertory at The Citadel (on Parliament/Dundas) in mid-August, and possibly elsewhere in the city. Other ENSEMBLE projects, including a co-venture with Hart House Theatre, will follow in the fall.
ENSEMBLE Canadian Youth Theatre/Théâtre Jeunesse Canadien is a non-Equity training initiative supported by Canadian Rep Theatre, to provide a bridging experience for performers who have completed their professional training and are advancing into the profession. Focusing exclusively on the Canadian canon, rehearsals will also include advanced training and mentorships. Participants will receive a modest honorarium for their participation.
PLEASE SEND SUBMISSIONS as soon as possible directly to: firstname.lastname@example.org
NOTE: The roles in TOUGH! are all young, i.e. 19-ish. Characters in DREAMS are much less specific, but generally mid-20s. We are VERY interested in performers from all diverse racial and cultural identities. Francophone experience also a strong asset for future projects.
