Seven Siblings Theatre is now casting for the role of Owen, and the voice of Black Box, in our upcoming Canadian premiere of Girl in the Machine by Stef Smith.

THE ROLES:
OWEN (25-40): Male identifying. Analog. A down to earth nurse. Married to Polly. Skeptical of Black Box.
BLACK BOX (voice): An evolving anti-anxiety device. Cold. Expansive. Dangerous.

We can accept union or non-union actors under a CAEA Artists Collective Policy. The show will operate as a formal profit share. We welcome applications from actors of all backgrounds, beliefs, cultures, and identities.

THE STORY:
Girl in the Machine is an intimate dystopian drama that explores our potential digital future. Polly and Owen have nailed it. Successful in their careers and wildly in love with each other, they feel ready to take on the world. Polly has recently been promoted, and spends most of her time working, so Owen presents her with a new gadget, 'Black Box', to help her relax. But when a mysterious new technology creeps into everyone's lives, the line between physical and digital rapidly dissipates, and Polly and Owen are forced to question whether their definitions of reality and freedom are the same.

PROJECT TIMELINE:
Rehearsals will be part-time from Sept to Nov, with an increased time commitment in early November. Performances will take place at the Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace from Nov 14 to 24 2019.

SUBMISSIONS:
To be considered for a role, please send an email with the subject “Girl in the Machine Submission” to sevensiblingstheatreco@gmail.com by Sunday July 28th with your headshot and resume.
