Audition Dates: March 23 - 25, 2020
Three teens break into a morgue to determine if a recently discovered Jane Doe is actually the body of their missing best friend - and her voice may be their only clue to solve her murder.
Low Hanging Fruit Productions, a new company of queer and disabled artists, is casting for a workshop production of Jane Doe by Roxhanne Norman, going up this summer at the Toronto Fringe (July 1-12)!
Actors of all races, ethnicities, backgrounds, and levels of ability and experience are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to performers who identify as LGBTQIP2SAA+ and/or Queer, as well those with lived experience of disability. Please note that, though these characters are in their last year of high school, we are only accepting submissions from performers over the age of 18.
We are casting the following roles:
- KIT: She/they (gender non-conforming woman); uses mobility aids
Kit very intelligent, very brave, and very intent on finding her best friend. We ask that only performers with lived experience using mobility aids (cane/s, walker, wheelchair, etc.) apply for this role.
- LIAM: He/him (non-binary); neurodivergent
Liam likes cats, loves his friends, and will do anything to make sure the people he loves are safe. We are only considering actors who identify as neurodivergent AND nonbinary/otherwise outside the Western gender binary for this role.
- RYAN: He/him (trans man); panic attacks
Annie's brother. A burgeoning jock who refuses to let his past hold him back. We are only considering actors who identify as trans men/trans masc. or nonbinary/otherwise outside the Western gender binary for this role, prioritising Mad actors/those with lived experience of mental illness.
- ANNIE: She/her (cis woman); experiences flashbacks
Ryan's sister. She is curious, poised, and now, quiet. We are only considering Mad actors/those with lived experience of mental illness for this role.
