This is an audition notice for a Kingston Storefront Fringe Festival play directed by Helen Monroe of Jewel Weed Theatre Company.
Rehearsals will be in Toronto, but actors must be available to go to Kingston for June 23rd-July1st 2017.
We are looking for: 5 actors of all shapes, sizes, colours and disciplines. Musical expertise of any kind is an asset, but not a requirement. Similarly, experience in TYA is beneficial but not a requirement.
The play is called "Apple Butter", written by James Reaney (The Donnelly Trilogy) and its one of his rare plays for children. This play hasn't been done in 30 years and this production will have a fresh take. Originally written to be done with marionettes, we will be using actors (and a few puppets!) doing mask work and writing new music. It truly is a magical piece of Canadian history that celebrates originality and determination.
This is going to be a small scale production, but one with big heart. The festival runs in Kingston from June 23- July 1st. Rehearsals will be in Toronto, the exact times are still being decided upon, but likely will be a two week rehearsal period in late May/ early June. Payment will be a profit share from the box office of the festival.
Please email Helenmonroe89@gmail.com with a resume and headshot if you would like to be considered for an audition.
Auditions will be Saturday April 22nd from 9am-3pm for a 15 minute time slot. Let us know when you might be available. If you cannot make it that day let us know and we will work out an alternate time.
