Subverting Something theatre company is looking for 2 performers for Lover Lover, a new site-specific play premiering at the Toronto Fringe Festival, July 5th-16th, 2017.
Lover Lover explores questions of modern romance, sexuality, polygamy, fate and choice, desperation, unrequited love, and unexpected connection. But it is not a love story. Or maybe it is. Let’s find out.
We are looking for trained actors to work off of one another, explore vulnerability and silence, and live truthfully under the imaginary circumstances.
This is one of 20 site-specific shows at the Fringe this year. The play will be held in the event space of a bar. Actors must be comfortable with an intimate audience in close proximity.
Roles: 1M 1F
- Mark: strung out, a hot mess, a dreamer who leads with his broken heart, a romantic with everything on display. He has a lot of questions.
- Marina: grounded, emotionally reserved, confident, rational. She leads with her head but her still waters run deep. She thinks she has the answers.
Both actors must at least 19 and able to play mid-twenties. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to apply.
Non-union, paid honorarium.
Auditions will be held on Friday, April 14 between 2pm and 6pm. Callbacks will be the next day. If you cannot make one or either of these dates but are still interested in the project, please e-mail us with your conflicts. That is the only weekend to audition in person as the writer/director currently resides in New York, but it may be possible to arrange an audition over Skype.
Rehearsals will begin mid-May. Actors will be provided scripts in April.
Deadline to submit is April 12. Early submissions are encouraged. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org your headshot, resume, and preferred audition time.
