R.J. Deverell Productions and Mixed Company Theatre is casting for their Hamilton Fringe show,
Photographic Evidence is about the life of Geraldine Moodie, a trailblazer who
was one of Canada’s first professional woman photographers. Geraldine Moodie is best known for her
portraits of the Inuit and Cree communities in the early 1900s.
We are looking to cast the following roles:
EVERYOTHER (any age) – An Indigenous performer who is the ringmaster, the Chorus, and an active
narrator of the show. They are a play-by-play commentator who can easily slip in and out of various
characters throughout the play. We're excited to see what you can bring to the role!
GERALDINE MOODIE (35- 45 yo) – An Englishwoman from a strong artistic matriarchal lineage
who would become one of Canada’s earliest professional photographers. Ambitious, headstrong, and
sensitive, Geraldine strives to fulfill her artistic dreams within a society that wants to confine her to the
roles of wife and mother. The actor should be prepared to play multiple ages.
J.D. MOODIE (35-45 yo) - A rigid Englishman who is attracted to Canada's land as a landed gentry
pioneer and eventually became a Northwest Mounted policeman. Stern, reserved, and imposing, J.D.
believes firmly in the colonialist enterprise and the gendered delineations of the times. The actor should
be prepared to play multiple ages.
Actors will be paid based on a profit-share model.
Please send your resume, head shot, and availability on April 6th and 7th, 2018 to
email@example.com with the subject line “Auditions for Photographic Evidence.”
Actors will be asked to prepare 1 dramatic and 1 comedic contemporary monologue for the audition
and should be ready for redirection from the director or a cold read of a scene from the play. Actors
should be available for rehearsals in June and July, and for shows during the Hamilton Fringe from July
19th to 29th, 2018.
