Seven Siblings Theatre is looking for artists to participate in The Rhinoceros Project.
We are thrilled to announce that our staged reading will now be expanded into four performances of Eugene Ionesco’s Rhinoceros.
We need two full casts to fulfill our requirements. One ensemble that will be cast based off scripted gender, and one that we be entirely gender-bent. We encourage submissions from all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, identities, and experiences. Team She-Wolves will be directed by Artistic Director Will King (Fever/Dream, Mercury Fur) and Team Alpha-Dogs will be directed by Company Manager Erika Downie (Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Love Unbound). The project will be co-ordinated by Head Producer Madryn McCabe and Production Manager Kate McArthur.
Each ensemble will be given the same list of requirements to include in their performance. The challenges will range from props, songs, motifs, choreography, costume, and one mystery box. There will most certainly be a mud bath. During the process, actors will have the opportunity to work individually, as a team ensemble, and as a larger ensemble with their counterpart playing the same role.
Rehearsals will take place over 10 intensive days starting May 23rd 2016.
Performances will occur from June 2nd to 5th 2016 at The Rhino (1249 Queen St W).
The Rhinoceros Project is a non-union, non-paying intensive. Selected participants will be expected to start off book, prepare adequately for the final performances, and come ready to play for each rehearsal.
To submit for the Rhinoceros Project, please email a copy of your headshot and resume to email@example.com by April 22nd, 2016. Selected artists will be contacted directly to schedule an audition.
