CASTING CALL, Lead Roles and Ensemble

Rehearsals Begin: June 2, 2018
Performances: July 13 & 15, 2018

Nigerian theatre company, Saga Tiata, is presenting a special performance of their WAHALA DEY OH!, coming to Toronto this July (after a premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe).

Saga Tiata is casting local actors/singers/dancers/drummers of all ethnicities to work with Nigerian-Icelandic director Ufuoma Overo-Tarimo (Refugee Walk 2016) in collaboration with three Nigerian performers, who are coming to Toronto for this presentation.

WAHALA DEY OH! is a Nigerian adaptation of Chaucer’s Miller’s Tale, set in present-day Lagos. Vibrant, colourful, and energetic, it incorporates traditional Nigerian and contemporary dance, singing, and music. Performers will play multiple roles. Performers will receive a $200 honorarium (possibly more depending on funding). Knowledge of Nigerian culture is a bonus, but not necessary. Rehearsals will be held downtown and in Mississauga.

Auditions will be held in two locations:
Monday April 9, 3-9pm, 75 St. George St., Toronto
Tuesday April 10, 11-4pm, University of Toronto, Mississauga.
(Callbacks: Wednesday April 11, 75 St. George St., Toronto)

Please send headshot and resume to to schedule a 15-minute appointment. Please specify which location you’d like for your audition.

Please prepare a 1-minute comedic monologue and be prepared to present your ability to sing, dance, and/or play an instrument VERY briefly — in whatever way seems best to you. Any genre is fine.
