Theatre of the Beat is casting for an upcoming tour of #ChurchToo, directed by Matt White.
Theatre of the Beat is a Canadian touring theatre company working to catalyze conversations on social justice as it intersects with the values of the communities in which it finds itself.
#ChurchToo is uniquely designed to cater specifically to the questions and concerns of each community that hosts it. Nine playwrights from across North America have each written a scene to explore the realities of sexual misconduct, power, and abuse within church communities. At each performance, the audience will vote to choose four of these scenes to be performed in their church.
We seek four artists under the age of 30. Applicants of all races, ethnicities, sexualities, ages, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Artists with disabilities are welcome to apply, though many of our touring venues are not accessible. Artists who are comfortable tackling challenging material in a positive, sensitive, and collaborative manner are especially encouraged to apply.
