Audition dates: Wednesday April 1 & Thursday April 2
THE PHILANDERESS by Sophia Fabiilli, inspired by G.B. Shaw’s THE PHILANDERER. Directed by Michelle Alexander.
About the play:
A gender-swapped adaptation of Shaw’s political and farcical play. In THE PHILANDERESS we meet Charlotte. She has her PhD in feminist philosophy. She just asked her lawyer boyfriend to be her life partner. And she sleeps with men casually and writes about it on her wildly successful sex blog. This fabulous feminist has it all! Until one of her lovers, Julian, crashes her life partner engagement party… with his family in tow.
SYLVIE CRAVEN (25-30) Julian’s brother and Charlotte’s confidant. Sylvie is a confident gay man who takes joy in questioning everything and is a step ahead of everyone. He’s in school to be a therapist and will be a very successful one… as soon as his family stops being his clients. He plays around with gender non-conformity in his fashion.
Artists from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to submit, including transgendered artists.
Please note the Toronto Fringe runs July 1-12. Rehearsals will take place in Toronto on evenings and weekends in late May and throughout June.
To submit: please send headshots and resumes to firstname.lastname@example.org by TUESDAY MARCH 31 at 5pm (apologies for the fast turn around!). Those selected for an audition will be contacted and will be asked to prepare sides from the play.
