Kerploding Theatre is looking for 5 actor-facilitators for a collaborative theatre project that is centred on cultural collaboration in Canada that will be presented at the Springworks Performance Festival in Stratford ON in October 2017.
Actors will assist in hosting outreach workshops, developing the story, and eventually performing a workshop of the piece from October 12-22nd. The project will follow a profit-share model with a small guaranteed honorarium. Rehearsals and workshops will be in Toronto and we will provide travel and accommodation in Stratford.
The premise of the project is to interview and host workshops with groups of youth between the ages of 9-18 on the topics of sharing geography across cultural lines, questioning cultural hierarchy, and discussing collaboration between cultural ‘groups’ in Canada. The responses from the workshops and interviews will be compiled collaboratively to create a final piece of semi-verbatim theatre.
The 5 characters are age 14, so actors should play young. We're looking for playful performers excited about the opportunity of building a show and blending outreach and performance.
The outreach portion will take place from June-September 2017 (1-3 sessions a month)
Rehearsals will take place in September-October 2017
Please send a headshot, resume, and a brief cover letter explaining a). What cultural collaboration means to you and b). Any interest or experience you have in devised theatre.
