Broken Soil Theatre is seeking actors for their upcoming Hamilton Fringe production, #dirtygirl.
During her best friend Bridget's birthday party, Kiera's photo appears on Twitter with a claim that she's sleeping with a teacher. The night turns into a booze-soaked, cake-stained fight against the world. Will Kiera's life be ruined before she even finishes high school? From the award-winning Broken Soil Theatre, #dirtygirl is a funny, intense, and piercing look at gender expectations, what it means to be called a slut, and the monsters we become when we're behind a screen.
We are looking to cast the following roles:
Kiera (Female, playable age 18) - An aspiring photographer. The subject of a massive public shaming.
Bridget (Female, playable age 18) - Kiera's best friend. Wants to save lives. She's dealing with way, way too much stress.
James (Male, playable age 18) - Kiera's boyfriend. Dealing with the social pressures of 'being a man' in the high school world.
Actors are encouraged to submit their headshot and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration. Successful applicants will be contacted shortly regarding the audition process. We are actively seeking diversity and encourage submissions by artists of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Rehearsals will be on a flexible part-time basis and will take place in Hamilton, Ontario beginning in May, followed by a 10 performance run at the Hamilton Fringe in July. This is a non-equity production. Artists will be compensated under a profit sharing model.
#dirtygirl gratefully acknowledges the developmental support of Roseneath Theatre and Young People's Theatre through the Ontario Arts Council Theatre Creators' Reserve Program. The Ontario Arts Council is an agency of the Government of Ontario.
