CHARACTER: Marisol (Age 20-40). Must be from a Latino background.
She is described by Rivera as: "An attractive Puerto Rican woman of 26. She has dark hair, and deep, dark, smart eyes." She is a young urban professional grappling with a dangerous and transforming world.
DRAMATURG: We believe that it’s very important for us to have a dramaturg on the project that represents and understands the rich history of Latin American Magical Realism. Schedule will be flexible and dependent on the individual.
Winner of the 1993 Obie Award, Marisol, a poetry-infused apocalyptic play, follows Marisol Perez as she navigates the war torn city that was New York. The angels have left to fight a war in heaven and all of Earth will suffer until the people rise up to join the fight.
The project is short (4 rehearsals between Feb 25th and Mar 3, and one performance Mar 4 at The Social Capitol). Please email your headshot and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org by Feb 11th to be considered! Early submissions encouraged.
Selected applicants will be contacted directly. This is a non-union, non-paying project.
