Nigerian theatre company seeks local performers for Toronto remount.

Nigerian theatre company, Saga Tiata, is holding auditions for their Toronto remount of Wahala Dey Oh! (adaptation of Chaucer’s The Miller’s Tale). Saga Tiata is looking to cast approximately 20 local actors (four parts are already filled by Nigerian performers who are coming to Toronto with the director). Actors will play multiple roles and all must have a basic ability with singing, dancing, and drumming (or be able to quickly learn basic drumming). While the performers will represent Nigerian characters, this audition is open to performers from all ethic backgrounds. A detailed character breakdown is below. Knowledge of Nigerian culture is bonus.

Auditions will be held Monday April 9th from 3-9pm at 75 St. George (Leonard Common Room in the basement of Morrison Hall). Callbacks will be Wednesday Aprill 11th (time and place TBD). Please send headshot and resume to Sagatiata@gmail.com for an appointment.

Please prepare a 1 minute comedic monologue and be prepared to present your ability to sing, dance, and play an instrument (if you play an instrument) VERY briefly in whatever way seems best to you. Please do not sing musical theatre material. More info about the show at sagatiata.com

Performers will receive a $200 honorarium (possibly more depending on funding). Rehearsals will be held in downtown and in Missassaugua beginning in early June. Performances are July 13-17, 2018 as a feature of the New Chaucer Society Conference.
