MOVING CHARACTERS - A LABAN BASED PHYSICALITY WORKSHOP INTO TEXT - September 29 - October 1, 2017

For actors, singers, storytellers, speakers, musicians.

Explore and develop a character using the movement theories of Rudolph Laban then apply the physical work directly to a monologue. Used by dancers, actors, musicians, athletes and health and wellness professionals, Laban is a multi-disciplinary approach to exploring movement and to physicalizing intention. It helps performers to first recognize physical habits and then, through exploration of a wider range of potential movements, develop a more expressive body. Discover how this multi-disciplinary focus on the physical life of a character can free your body, ground your voice in your body, and help you to delve deeper into the inner life of the character. This workshop is very physical and practical. You will also work with a monologue to apply the physical work directly to spoken text.

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.
