Halloween falls on a Monday this year. What a bummer.
But we're going to make the most of it, and use it to launch the fall session of Howland Company's Reading Group. We'll be looking at the appropriately macabre new play by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh: 'Hangmen'. It premiered last year with an acclaimed production at the Royal Court Theatre, moving soon after to the West End. The play centers around the celebrated hangman Harry Wade as he faces 1965, the year England abolished of the death penalty.
We're trying a new location for the first reading of our Fall session: Hub 14 @ 14 Markham Street, near Queen and Bathurst. We're hoping to start around 7:00PM or so, Monday October 31st. Come and join us!
The Howland Company Reading Group is a free event held in and around the last Monday of every month. Anyone is welcome to drop by, cold-read a part in the chosen play (copies are provided and roles are assigned and switched around on the fly) and get the opportunity to engage in discussion, and meet people in the community!
