FIXT POINT is seeking two professional artists, familiar with Mississauga, for fulltime
positions with The Tale of a Town, presented in partnership with The City of
Mississauga this summer!
FIXT POINT’s The Tale of a Town project is a national oral history project that celebrates the culture and heritage of Canada’s downtowns through the gathering and mapping of our living memories across Canada. These collected memories are presented back to communities through interactive performance installations, podcasts, and through our online, digital Storymap.
Position: Storygathering Artist
Artist Fee: Based on Experienced
Dates: July 11 July 31, 2016 in Mississauga
Mandatory 3Day Training: Between Tuesday, May 31st and Friday, June 3 in Toronto
Candidates must be outgoing, creative, reliable, motivated and passionate about storytelling, community engagement and all things local. The position requires a combination of interviewing local community members and artistic audio editing. Experience with sound and video editing are assets, as well as familiarity with ProTools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Photoshop. Bilingualism (French/English), and an Ontario driver’s license are a bonus.
We will provide you with specific training around The Tale of a Town themes, our interviewing style, and our audio aesthetic.
