June 11 - July 15, 2018
Opera in the 21st Century is a performance-based, collaborative training experience for emerging opera professionals that truly challenges the conventions of performance, production, and design.
Musicians will participate in rehearsals and performances for a concert staged production of Candide. In addition, the residency will feature a staged chamber music program, Chamber Werx, which highlights exceptional vocal works from the 20th and 21st century, as well as a fully staged re-orchestration of Gluck/Berlioz’s Orphée.
We invite applications from artists who have completed their post-secondary training and who are keen to explore opera and vocal repertoire in a different way. The program offers space for two violins, one viola, one cello, one oboe, one horn, one flute, one clarinet, and one bassoon.
