Shakespeare in Action’s Administrative Community Program has given dozens of volunteers meaningful opportunities to develop professional skills, network with professional theatre artists and be part of a dynamic creative team committed to awakening a passion in young audiences for Shakespeare, classical theatre, and the arts.
Successful applicants will specialize in one of the following portfolios:
Assist with coordination of fundraising events; assisting with fundraising campaigns; liaison with community groups to maximize participation. Specific focus in Fall 2017 will be on fundraising for our newest library literacy program for teens: Shakespeare Meets Hip Hop FUSION.
Assisting with marketing and press campaigns especially direct sales to schools; Updating and maintaining social media
Education and Outreach
Assisting with delivery of educational programs; Liaising with Schools and Community centres; assisting with creation and organization of educational materials.
Videography and Documentation
Shooting, editing and uploading film entries of programming for social media and fundraising campaigns.
The Administrative Community Program is designed to be learning-based, and professional administrators and artists will mentor volunteers closely. This is an ideal environment for those looking to gain more experience working in arts administration and the charitable sector, or those looking to apply their talents and skills to a great cause.
Successful applicants must be able to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week. There is flexibility around days & time worked.
Successful applicants will either be enrolled in or have completed a university or college degree in a pertinent field, including Arts in Education, Business, Marketing, Theatre Production, or similar areas. Most importantly, successful applicants will have a passion for Shakespeare, classical theatre, education and theatre for young audiences. Applicants will have a desire to learn more about creating theatre in a professional context and be a good team player.
