Actors work hard to create believable performances that their audience can understand. What is the character feeling? What do they want? Why are they doing that? Hey, did he just jump out the window?

Oh, I get it …Puppets should act believably, too. Bringing acting to your puppetry means creating a discernible inner life for your character. We should be able to see its feelings, understand its thoughts, and relate to the goals that it has from one moment to the next within a scene.

“Teach Your Puppets to Act” will give puppeteers and their puppets (Table-top, Rod, Marionette, Hand/Glove, Mouth Puppet, etc) the basics of acting – from breath to movement to script analysis – so that your puppets will command the attention of your audience, and keep them with you all the way from “lights up” to “curtain”.
