Deadline: Wednesday, February 17, 2021
Work your way through a new Shakespearean monologue with one of Canada’s most dynamic Shakespearean actors; André Sills.
André will be teaching his approach to Shakespearean verse speaking with a focus on rhetoric, argument building, and drive. Known for playing Coriolanus (directed by Robert Lepage – Stratford 2018) amongst many other notable roles all over the country, Sills will help you dive deep into some new text and find the power and joy of verse speaking.
After four weeks of working on your new piece with André, for the first time, we are also including a one-on-one ‘test-drive’ audition with Ruff’s leaders, Eva Barrie and Desirée Leverenz. Alongside simulating an audition environment and offering a re-direct (or two), they will provide feedback and advice for you to hit the ground running with your new piece.
These sessions will be entirely on Zoom. Anyone with an internet connection and a desire to dive in with André is welcome.
Afternoons with André:
March 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th (1-5pm EST)
Test Drive Audition with Eva & Desirée:
March 29th and 30th (25 mins each, timing TBD)
$250 (20% discount to past Young Ruffians, Guerrilla Ruffians, and CAEA members)
