We have just opened registration for Orchestras Canada’s 2016 national conference, OC-KW 2016, and you can find all of the details, here:

We so hope that you can join us!

This year’s conference takes place in Kitchener ON, co-hosted by the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.  It starts Wednesday, April 27 with a one-day pre-conference devoted to digital options for orchestras; the main conference starts at lunch time on April 28 and wraps up at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 30.  The program, planned by a national task force supported by OC staff, offers future-oriented perspectives on technology, audience growth and development, donors, community impact, artistic partnerships, and governance, and will also include plenty of time for discussion with peers, and the chance to attend a couple of great concerts, too.

New this year, in partnership with the board of directors of the KW Symphony, we’re organizing a full day program specifically for orchestra board members on April 29. Of course, board members are welcome to attend the entire conference, but if time is an issue—this may help!

Other things you’ll learn when you visit the event website?

  • The Canada Council for the Arts has renewed and increased its support for travel bursaries for the conference.  For first consideration, please submit your bursary request by February 26;
  • We’ve got a great rate at this year’s conference hotel, the Crowne Plaza Kitchener-Waterloo, 3 minutes from the conference venue;
  • We’ve arranged a generous discount on WestJet.  If you’re flying from western Canada, WestJet flies non-stop from Calgary to Kitchener-Waterloo Regional Airport.  Kitchener is also well served by GO Transit, Via Rail, and Greyhound.
  • The Early Bird registration deadline is March 18:  save by registering early!

We hope you share our excitement about this year’s conference!
