CALL FOR AUDITIONS:

Modern Times Stage Company is seeking a female-identifying performer local to Toronto for a new play by Ece Aydin.

To note: though all characters in the play appear between young ages, the parts are played by adult, professional actors.

ABOUT THE PLAY

Set in 1990s Turkey, the play follows a young girl coming of age in a world shaped by tradition, family, and friendship. It lingers in the space between the life laid out for her and the life she quietly longs for. Blending humour, imagination, and heartbreak, it reveals the extraordinary resilience found in ordinary moments and the complexities of protecting those we love. As fate begins to loosen its grip, can each generation leave the next a little freer?

ABOUT THE ROLE OF ROSE/GÜL

ROSE/GÜL – Appears between 6yrs – 15yrs and is of Turkish, Persian, Desi, Arab, Middle Eastern, South Asian, North African, Brown, or related communities decent.  ROSE/GÜL is a deeply curious and compassionate girl with remarkable but rarely affirmed intelligence and beauty. A math whiz with a fascination for cars, she’d rather chase adventure than worry about the things she’s expected to care about. But she does long to become the person the world expects her to be. Her greatest ally is her imagination where she finds the freedom to ask questions no one else will.

While auditions are open to all, in line with our mandate, priority will be given to first and second generation Canadians.
