Awaken Your Artist is a six-day acting retreat and performance immersive taking place January 18–23, 2027 in Mexico City, bringing a small international cohort of actors and performing artists together for more than 30 hours of training, experimentation and cross-cultural artistic exchange.
Conceived and produced by Hechale Productions and hosted by Centro Cultural Casa Hechale, the programme includes acting and performance workshops, movement and embodied practice, ensemble training, improvisation, text and scene exploration, play and collaborative performance experimentation.
The immersive grows from Hechale Productions’ ongoing cross-border work connecting theatre artists and creative communities across Mexico and the United States. Participants bring different training histories, languages and cultural references into the room, allowing artistic exchange to develop through practice and sustained ensemble work.
The week extends beyond the studio. Participants stay in Mexico City and take part in selected shared meals, group outings, theatre visits, cultural activities and artistic encounters, creating time for conversation and exchange throughout the programme.
The programme is hosted at Centro Cultural Casa Hechale in Santa María la Ribera, an independent cultural centre dedicated to theatre, performance, dramaturgy, movement, artistic research, residency and international exchange.
