The Cahoots Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the appointment of Richard Chan 陳駿華 as Managing Director of Cahoots Theatre. He succeeds Lisa Alves, the company’s former managing producer, who exited the position earlier this year.
Chan’s first day in the reconceived and renamed position is Monday, November 3rd.
“I feel deeply honoured to be joining Cahoots Theatre as the new Managing Director,” Chan affirms. “It is with humility and determination that I accept this opportunity and look forward to the many exciting possibilities to come. The raison d’être of Cahoots resonates deeply within my soul and speaks truth to the core values in my heart.”
Cahoots board Chair, Dale Yim, believes Chan to be an excellent addition and fit. “The board is incredibly excited to introduce Richard Chan as our incoming Managing Director,” Yim states. “We’re proud to welcome him to our team and look forward to working with Richard as we write the next chapters of Cahoots, and continue to serve and herald the artistic voices of our incredibly diverse communities. Richard brings a rare and unique blend of professional and artistic experience that serves the various roles played in arts administration in an uncannily perfect way. He also brings incredible warmth and honesty.”
Chan will spend the remainder of 2025 transitioning into his role. In joining Cahoots – Canada’s first theatre dedicated to championing and showcasing cultural and racial diversity – Chan will lead the organization in partnership with the company’s artistic director, Tanisha Taitt.
