We are currently seeking to fill a newly created Board of Directors position – Youth Board Member – to actively support and share equally in all duties, responsibilities and benefits afforded all Board members. This is a volunteer Board position.
Youth Board Member Details/Responsibilities
- Full Board member position covering a three-year term
- Candidate must be between 19 – 30 years of age
- Mentorship will be provided through Studio 180’s Board Buddy program.
- Attendance at Board meetings throughout the year (between 8-10)
- Participation on at least one Board Committee (e.g., Nominating, Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Social Impact)
- Promote and advocate for Studio 180 productions and activities to peers, colleagues and personal contacts
- Attend Studio 180 productions and activities, including artists’ talks, In Development workshop presentations and Studio 180 Reads.
- Contribute and participate in the growth and on-going success of the organization including through annual donations – according to capacity.
- Participate respectfully in an environment that supports equity, diversity and inclusivity and reflects Studio 180’s policies of anti-racism and anti-oppression in all interactions (communications and in-person)
- An interest and/or experience in and with the performing arts
- Some knowledge and/or experience in the not-for-profit sector which could include marketing, fundraising, public relations, human resources, strategic planning, community outreach.
- Comfort with, and ability to use, social media to share and promote Studio 180 activities through personal platforms – e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter
- Comfort with collaborative work environments that welcome diverse viewpoints and perspectives.
- Work or volunteer experience in the arts is an asset.
The Youth Board Member term will begin in the Fall of 2021. All those interested will be contacted. Selected candidates will be forwarded to the Nominating Committee with interviews planned for August 2021.

About Studio 180 Theatre
Studio 180 Theatre is a Toronto-based not-for profit arts organization committed to engaging, provoking and entertaining through dynamic theatre that reflects diverse stories and perspectives. The company is governed by a passionate and experienced volunteer Board of Directors who are responsible for ensuring a safe and respectful work environment for all staff and artists, fiscal responsibility and accountability to all funders and supporters, as well as being advocates for all Studio 180 productions and activities. The Board of Directors supports the company’s mission and works collaboratively with staff to ensure that the organization operates successfully and reaches its full potential.
