Full-Time Summer Camp Coordinator

Note: Contract period is from July 15th to August 23rd, 2024 with a few prep/orientation days the week of July 8th


Randolph Kids Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the execution of the provided schedules and organized activities of all camps running at Randolph Kids (a division of Randolph College for the Performing Arts). Each week we host 3-4 performing arts camps throughout our building. Our camps are led by qualified instructors and supported by student volunteers. The Camp Coordinator is not responsible for programming the material for camps, and will work alongside and be supported by Kids Program Management for the entirety of this contract.

The ideal candidate for this position will ensure that our camp instructors, volunteers and participants enjoy an enriching, safe and inclusive camp experience. They work collaboratively with the Program Manager and Kids Program staff to; oversee the delivery of all camp activities, monitor scheduling & trips offsite, problem solve, and proactively support the camp throughout the day.


Co-Ordinates and Helps Deliver Camp Content

  • Become familiar with the daily & weekly schedule, as well as each specific camp lesson plan/curriculum to gain a better understanding of the sequence of events, activities and daily plans.
  • Ensures that each camp is following their daily schedule, and adhering to organized break and lunch times
  • Ensures that camp supplies are organized and prepared; coordinates with Manager and Kids Program staff to procure necessary supplies and equipment. Responsible for ensuring supplies are couriered to the camp classroom, as well as returned to the supply storage.
  • Coordinates the setup of the outdoor lunch space.
  • Assist in facilitating teacher/volunteer breaks.
  • Drop off/Pick Up: Responsible for welcoming campers, taking attendance, fielding questions and any intake messages from parents upon drop off/pick up, and relay any pertinent information to instructors and management.
  • Keeps accurate records including attendance, sign in/sign out logs, incident reports.
  • Ensures that camps are being delivered within a learning environment that prioritizes campers’ safety. 
  • Reports any problems or safety concerns to the Program Manager. 

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Cultivates effective teamwork amongst camp staff and volunteers and ensures effective team communication by working cooperatively and amicably with other staff members.
  • Ensures volunteers are effectively supporting campers and are contributing positively to the camp experience.

Customer Service

  • Works with parents to address specific requirements for campers, and helps to resolve any concerns or minor issues related to camps. Any escalating behavior or safety issues will be turned over to Kids Program Management.  
  • Communicates proactively with parents to provide information about camp, activities and their children’s experiences. 

Other Responsibilities

  • Some cash handling may be required in relation to the lunch program for campers.
  • Guides the Camp Instructors and volunteers in maintaining an organized and tidy camp environment, ensuring that equipment and supplies are stored appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as required.


  • Enrolment or completion of a post-secondary program in a relevant discipline (i.e. Teaching, E.C.E., Arts Management, Hospitality) at an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years’ related experience in a camp or other recreational setting. Experience working with children is required.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification prior to start date.
  • Successful candidates must have, or be willing to acquire, a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening prepared within the last 12 months.


  • Strong leadership capacity. Proven ability to take charge and motivate others. Ability to foster teamwork and accountability. Ability to supervise peers who are close in age.
  • Organization and time management.
  • Positive, enthusiastic and passionate about the learning experiences of children. They are highly motivated, proactive, energetic and comfortable in a wide range of situations involving interaction with parents.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, and to make decisions and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to observe and assess staff and camper behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Communicates proactively with staff to ensure camp priorities are well understood.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, children, staff & volunteers.
  • Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups.
