The Project

We are looking for a dedicated, skilled, and innovative Marketing Specialist to create and implement a marketing campaign for The Departure Train, an independently produced audio play/podcast that takes listeners on a journey into the afterlife.

The play gives listeners a way to consider our lives and legacies from the perspective of a departing soul. The story’s themes have the potential to reach many different audiences, especially those who are interested in end-of-life care, legacies, family relationships and the often untold stories that surround the death of a loved one.

We will be launching the audio play in the spring of 2022.

The Position

We are seeking an excellent writer and communicator who is enthusiastic about the play, has experience marketing theatrical projects, enjoys making new connections with individuals and organizations, and knows how to create and implement social media campaigns.

We are offering a six-month contract, approximately 40-60 hours a month, starting in February 2022. The position’s contract period may be extended with additional marketing work on WonderLit Productions’ other projects.

Remuneration will be based on an hourly rate (to be negotiated) in the range of $2500-3500 per month depending on the number of hours worked.

Job description

Developing and implementing a marketing plan for The Departure Train, an independently produced audio play/podcast.

Creating connections and affiliations/partnerships with people and organizations whose missions are aligned with those of the play.

Creating or overseeing the creation of a dramatic website page for the audio play’s presence online which will include the audio play, ticketing/donations, interviews, and trailers.

Creating and implementing social media posts to promote the play (teasers and trailers will be separately produced.)

Writing newsletter updates on the website and through newsletter campaigns.

Skills Required

Experience creating and implementing a marketing/publicity plan in collaboration with producers.

Experience with promotion of theatre, podcasts, and/or audio books/plays.

Comfort with outreach to organizations and individuals with potential to be affiliate partners and distributors.

Experience with social media advertising and engagement creation.

PR and media relations experience.

Knowledge of website/newsletter design.
