Nightswimming dives into the new season with new artistic collaborators and a remarkable roster of commissioned artists and ongoing creative projects.

Gloria Mok is now in the office as Nightswimming’s Producer, and with Brian is planning a series of studio sessions for new works later this fall…working in person on projects that can’t be fully explored online or on Zoom. We can’t wait to be back in collaboration on all of these exciting projects.

Nathaniel Hanula-James
Metcalf Foundation Dramaturgy Intern

We are very happy to welcome Nathaniel Hanula-James for a year-long internship in dramaturgy and theatrical storytelling, with thanks to the Metcalf Foundation’s Performing Arts Internship Program. Nathaniel is a creator, performer and arts administrator who recently appeared in Shakespeare in the Ruff’s Towards Rebirth. He spent several months with Nightswimming last season as part of the Humber College Cultural Management program; we’re thrilled to welcome him back and have him join us in the Nightswimming office.

Natasha Mumba
Creator in Residence

We’re delighted that performer and writer Natasha Mumba will be a Creator in Residence at Nightswimming during the 21/22 season. Her play Copperbelt investigates the politics of the modern-day mining industry in Zambia and the economic systems that dominate the developing world. Later this fall, don’t miss Natasha’s performance in the Factory Theatre production of Acts of Faith, online from October 20 to 23, 2021.

Myekah Payne
Associate Dramaturg

Myekah Payne will be working with Nightswimming part time this season as Associate Dramaturg. We look forward to her collaboration this fall and winter.

But the big news is that she has just started at the Tarragon Theatre as their new Associate Artistic Director, collaborating with incoming Artistic Director Mike Payette on a new era at the Tarragon. Congratulations, Myekah!
