Andy’s workshop at Tarragon is geared toward the experienced artist who is interested in creating new, physically-based theatre pieces. Exercises utilizing clown, pantomime and movement to tap your creative centre.
In this two-day format Andy will take participants through an intensive process exploring the following:
Day One
- Following natural impulses to play and create.
- Constructing narrative from the simplest notions.
- The demands of solo/group exploration.
Day Two
- Creating a structure.
- The potential for text and developing further physical possibilities.
- Keeping creation alive at all times.
PLEASE NOTE: This course will take place in-person. Tarragon is a mask-friendly. Participants will not be required to wear masks.

In-person weekend intensive:
Over the past thirty-five years, Andy has performed, directed and taught across Canada at such theatres as Stratford Festival, Theatre New Brunswick, National Arts Centre, Banff Centre, Tarragon, Odyssey, Y.P.T., among many others. His Dora award winning wordless play Rough House (presented by Nightswimming Theatre) toured Canada and the U.S. Andy is a member of the faculty at the Toronto Film School and teaches independently.
