First Born Theatre is seeking submissions from Toronto playwrights and actors for our quarterly cold-reading series, “The Reading Room”.
How it works: We bring a brand new Canadian play into a room. The actors see it for the first time. The audience sees it for the first time. Everyone discovers it together. No rehearsal. No pressure. The perfect way to share your work in a fun & low-stakes setting, and get to know your neighbours!
We’re looking for playwrights with an unproduced draft ready to be heard, and actors who love a cold read and want to connect with emerging writers.
What you get:
- a small honorarium
- playwrights also receive a recording of their reading + a dramaturgy session
- a supportive community that wants to see you thrive
