Teatron Toronto Jewish Theatre is seeking an actor for a Lead Role in our upcoming production of The Chosen, by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok, September 19-26th at the Meridian Arts Centre, Toronto.   The role is as follows:

Daniel Saunders – Male, stage age 16-18.  A young Hassidic Jewish man, Reb Saunders’ son and heir to his dynasty.  A brilliant scholar with a photographic memory and a deep interest in Freud  and psychoanalysis.  Torn between his duty to his father and his own ideas about how to live his life.

Synopsis -Set against the backdrop of 1940’s Brooklyn, two boys living five blocks away and two worlds apart – one from a Hasidic dynasty, the other traditional Orthodox. When Reuven is injured by Danny during a heated baseball game between their rival yeshivas, a unique friendship is born.  As the boys grow to manhood, they are forced to learn important lessons about each other, their fathers and themselves. It is a timeless story about faith, family and friendship and the universal struggles of growing up, making difficult decisions and finding one’s place in the world.

This is a non-union, non paying production.
