What we provide:

d:mic/fac will provide the venue, festival publicity, festival marketing, a festival production team (including Stage Manager and Lighting Designer) and other support for selected artists for presentation.  WYSIWYG choreographers will receive an honorarium of $1,500.

Applications must be received by 11:59 P.M., Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Pacific Time to be considered for the August 2023 festival.

Applications are only accepted through our online form on our website.

Artists working in all genres and cultural aesthetics are encouraged to apply, within the following criterion:

For WYSIWYG presentation:

  • A choreographer must have had a minimum of three of their works professionally presented and have been professionally active for a minimum of two years. Workshop, process-based showings and academic settings do not qualify as being professionally presented.
  • Existing or proposed creations may be a minimum of five (5) minutes in length or a maximum of ten (10) minutes.

Please note: New or existing works may not have been presented in a completed state within a 400km radius of Toronto for 5 years prior to the 2023 performance date.

Information that we need from ALL applicants

The Applicant Information Form AND:

  • Names of artistic collaborators, e.g. choreographer,performers, designers, composer, dramaturg, mentor, et cetera.
  • The number of performers traveling (Please note: we can only cover the travel costs of performers + applicant)
  • A biography of the choreographer (250 words or less)
  • A biography of the applicant, if the applicant is not the choreographer (250 words or less)
  • A detailed list of the choreographer’s choreographic work for the past six years, please include professional choreographic work only; no process-focused or workshop presentations, academic/educational work.In addition, if the applicant is not the choreographer, a detailed list of the performer’s performance work for the past five years.
  • If the applicant is not the choreographer, you must submit a signed letter from the choreographer stating that you have permission to perform the work in the festival.The letter must state that you have come to an agreement regarding royalties / payment for rights and that the applicant is responsible for these costs and not d:mic/fac Festival.

Some notes to help you with the application:

  • The festival welcomes applications in both official languages.
  • The Presenter may not review all the video material, so please provide notation/timings for specific excerpts your are proposing
  • Please do not send press kits or other promotional material not directly related to the application.
  • You have the option to submit up to three letters of reference or support.
  • Material that is not in electronic format will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances.  We are doing this so we can stay focused on the work rather than the administrative tangle.  However, we appreciate that there may be circumstances that require an exception. Please contact us at

  • The applicant is responsible for maintaining the accessibility of their online content.To help us assess your application in an efficient way, please ensure that passwords are not changed and content is accessible for the period February 9th to April 30th.
