Description & Duties
The Assistant Production Manager’s duties include:
- Pre-planning and advancing artists with oversight by PM
- Working with the PM to develop production schedules for the festival
- Assisting with load in and load out of venues
- Sourcing + requisition of infrastructure and technical requirements
- Maintaining accurate records of expenditure and reconciling invoices post festival
- Managing designated budgets and reporting to PM on expenditures
- Site management of off-site and additional venue spaces
- Managing freelance technical staff as required
- Other production responsibilities as required by the PM
Position Specifications
It is essential that the Assistant Production Manager has:
- High level organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and juggle competing demands
- The ability to think creatively and propose innovative ways to solve problems
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to quickly form relationships
- Experience in working on complex events
- The ability to think big-picture while paying attention to detail
It is desirable that the Assistant Production manager has:
- Knowledge of the goals and activities of SummerWorks
- Familiarity with SummerWorks’ venues and operations
- Experience working in site-specific or non-theatre locations
- Technical knowledge of theatre
- A valid driver’s license
