Deadline: November 30, 2020
Pencil Kit Productions is workshopping WHITE MUSCLE DADDY by Raf Antonio in residency at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. As part of our core value of expanding our circles, sharing resources, and including a plethora of perspectives, we are seeking an Assistant Projection Artist as part of our paid mentorship program for emerging BIPOC artists.
WHITE MUSCLE DADDY is a multimedia fantasy-horror that uses projection art and performance to tell the story of a vampiric predator, at large in a major urban centre’s queer village. This psychosexual thriller explores the destructive impact of the white supremacist construct on queer desire and community. We will have a socially-distanced technical workshop February 22-25, 2021. There is a chance, pending funding, of an additional week extension.
You will be working alongside director Jay Northcott, projection artist Roxanne Luchak, playwright Raf Antonio, dramaturge Keshia Palm, and artist-producer Claren Grosz.
We are seeking an emerging BIPOC video or projection artist. Some knowledge of video creation is required, experience in theatre is not; however, experience in theatrical design (lighting, set, projection or otherwise) is an asset. A passion for non-hierarchical, collaborative art making is also an asset.
Please send a resume and a short (~200-400 word) statement of interest to email@example.com by November 30, 2020.
